Ohio Eagle Nest
The spring migration and breeding season are in full swing. Many raptors are already busy feeding young in the nests. An avid birder from northeast Ohio was happy to share these photos she recently took of an eagle nest with one eaglet. Thanks, Terri for sharing. Current stats show that Ohio has about 707 eagle nests in the state. Hard to believe, but 40 years ago, in 1979, there were only 4 breeding pairs. Ottawa County, along Lake Erie, has the most nests with about 90.
If you’d like to get a birdseye view of nesting activity tune in to the Cornell Lab Bird Cams as they stream live on nests of barred owls, kestrels, red-tails, and more, visit https://www.allaboutbirds.org/cams/all-cams/.
